What’s a Side Gig or Side Hustle?
A side gig/hustle is something you do to earn money outside your regular job.
Maybe that’s an economic necessity for you.
Maybe it’s an act of rebellion against “the system.”
Maybe it’s just plain fun.
Whatever it is, it’s empowering.
When you think of the word “hustle,” what comes to mind?
I’ve found it has two very different meanings to me:
The hustle I’m talking about:
- Getting more done in less time
- Having a “Get it done” attitude
- For the love of accomplishment
NOT:
- Scamming people
- Easy money with no effort tricks
- B.S. work
The first step to building a successful side hustle is to get your mind right. Without the optimistic, can-do, make-something-happen attitude, it’s really difficult to find the positive energy required to build the business. The hardest part is getting started and working through the startup difficulties. Everything you do has some sort of difficulty when you first start. You won’t find success if you quit when it starts to get a little hard. Grit and determination will get you where you want to be.
For me, “hustle” is about taking control of your own effort, your own financial freedom and prosperity.
